A national civic engagement group has recognized Maddie Souser, a senior from Lansing, in the 2024 Student Voting Honor Roll, which recognizes students at participating campuses who have gone above and beyond to advance nonpartisan student voter registration, education and turnout efforts in their communities.

The Big Event at KU spring event drew 966 student, faculty and staff volunteers April 5 to serve 130 job sites around Lawrence. The Jayhawks created an estimated economic impact of $129,405 for the surrounding community.

This March, KU students traveled to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to serve with Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, a big cat animal sanctuary and public education organization as part of KU's Alternative Breaks program.

KU and the Kansas Leadership Center will host the first Civic Leadership Workshop & Fair for KU students Feb. 28 in the Kansas Union. The student workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the Big 12 Room and includes lunch for all attendees. The fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kansas Ballroom.
