Junior Cherin Russell Names KU's 2023-2024 Newman Civic Fellow

April 11, 2023 — LAWRENCE — Cherin Russell, a junior in English, is KU’s Newman Civic Fellow for 2023-2024. She is from Lawrence and a graduate of Lawrence High School. 


KU To Host Third Annual Summit on Community-Engaged Leaning and Scholarship

December 12, 2022 — LAWRENCE — The KU Center for Service Learning will host the third annual virtual Summit on Community-Engaged Learning and Scholarship (CELS) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 2023. The CELS Summit will feature keynote speaker Beronda Montgomery. 


KU Student Voter Engagement on a Steady Incline, With Opportunities to Engage in Voter Education This Week

October 4, 2022 — LAWRENCE — Traditionally, voter registration and turnout is higher in presidential election years compared with midterm years. However, the University of Kansas’ 2014, 2018 and 2020 consolidated report from the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) indicates an upward trend in student voter registration and turnout for midterm years 2014 and 2018.


Tuesday Marks National Voter Registration Day

September 20, 2022 — Kansas City, Kansas — Forty-nine days away from Election Day and voters are getting a reminder about registering to vote on National Voter Registration Day. The biggest takeaway for voters in both Kansas and Missouri is to know where you will be voting in the general election, and when that registration deadline is for where you live.

September 14, 2022— In this interview with Dr. Stites on the University of Kansas Health System’s Morning Medical Update, Dr. Jomella Watson-Thompson, Dr. Robert Winfield, Juliann Vanliew, Damon Daniel, and Olivia Desmarais discuss the Youth Violence Prevention Center-Kansas City, a CDC National Center of Excellence on Youth Violence Prevention (one of 5 in the nation) and efforts to evaluate, examine, and offer supports to address youth violence in our communities.
