With the establishment of the IRISE fellowship, 12 University of Kansas faculty and staff members are working to develop and encourage a culture at the institution that reflects the IRISE values — integrity, respect, innovation, stewardship and excellence.

LAWRENCE — To foster a greater connection between the University of Kansas and the Lawrence community, The Big Event at KU will stage a day of engagement and service next month. KU students, faculty and staff are encouraged to volunteer.

The Center for Service Learning has recognized Thom Allen, assistant professor of the practice of urban planning and associate director of the University Honors Program, as a Service Learning Instructional Mini-Grant recipient for fall 2024.

The University of Kansas will host its 112th Homecoming, sponsored by Central Bank, Oct. 14-20. KU Alumni Association has organized a series of service events to extend the Homecoming spirit of Jayhawk unity and goodwill beyond Lawrence.

A national awards program has recognized the University of Kansas for its nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts that fostered student voter engagement in the 2022 midterm elections. KU’s student voter rate of 33.1% earned the university a Silver Seal.
