KU to offer Civic Leadership Workshop & Fair for students

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas and the Kansas Leadership Center will host the first Civic Leadership Workshop & Fair for KU students Feb. 28 in the Kansas Union.

The student workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the Big 12 Room and includes lunch for all attendees. The fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kansas Ballroom.

The workshop will be led by experts from the civic engagement team at the Kansas Leadership Center, a Wichita-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming civic life in Kansas and beyond. Any KU students who are interested in growing their capacity for civic engagement and leadership are encouraged to attend. Students should register for the free workshop and lunch.

The university community is invited to attend and engage with campus and community organizations at the fair who are committed to civic engagement and leadership and to improving the KU, Lawrence and Douglas County communities. No sign-ups are required to attend. If your organization or group is interested in tabling at the fair, register to secure your spot by completing this form.

"Civic engagement isn’t just about showing up — it’s about mobilizing and energizing others to tackle tough challenges together,” said Anisah Ari, civic engagement manager at the Kansas Leadership Center. “True leadership happens when people, regardless of title or position, take ownership for their shared future, engage across differences and inspire collective action. At the Kansas Leadership Center, we believe lasting change comes from courageous individuals who step up, adapt and work with others to create thriving communities."

The event is sponsored by KU’s School of Business, the Institute for Leadership Studies and the Center for Service Learning.
