Explore your Pathways to Service: Advocacy and Policy Shaping

Join Center for Service Learning (CSL) and speakers for light refreshments and discussion about pathways to service through policy shaping and advocacy. Former Kansas State Representative John Wilson and KU School of Social Welfare representative Melinda Lewis will be discussing their pathways to these two areas. If you are interested in influencing and shaping decisions for the public interests through policies or laws, or creating awareness and action on issues that impact the community through advocacy, this is the event for you!

CSL Ambassador Meeting
The CSL Faculty Ambassador program is designed to engage faculty in a community of practice, which will:

  • foster collaboration and communication between faculty from a variety of disciplines;
  • expand awareness and recognition of community engagement, service learning and community-based participatory research as a means for transforming teaching, learning, and research; and
  • provide faculty members with a venue to share insights, discuss relevant issues, and explore ways to enhance the impact of service learning.

The Big Event - Save the date

The Big Event
The Big Event connects the KU campus with the Lawrence community by recruiting thousands of student, faculty, and staff volunteers to work at hundreds of local job sites during one day of service. Big Event volunteers provide a helping hand to Lawrence residents by completing projects in their neighborhoods.
