SFC Service Partnership

The annual Sorority, Fraternity, Community (SFC) Service Partnership matches fraternities and sororities with nonprofit organizations from the Lawrence area for year-long service partnerships.

The purpose of the SFC Service Partnership is to connect Greek letter organizations at the University of Kansas with Lawrence community organizations for partnerships that are meaningful to both sides. The program is supported by the Center for Service Learning (CSL) and the Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) program of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center. The SFC Service Partnership supports personal growth of students, commitment to and enthusiasm for community service by Greek organizations on campus, important dialogue about social issues, and long-term relationships that help address the most important needs in the Lawrence community.

In Spring and Summer, the CSL and SFL put out a call for Greek organizations and community partners to complete an application to be part of the initiative. To be paired, each fraternity, sorority, or community partner indicated the kinds and amount of volunteering in which they were interested. The resulting partnerships are announced and celebrated at the beginning of fall semester. Students and community partner representatives gathered in newly created pairs or continuing partnerships and began developing their service plans for the fall. Each partner signs a contract to fulfill their service responsibilities to one another.
